David J. Harris, MD
Dr. David Harris, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at North Point Orthopaedics. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques in sports medicine such as, arthroscopic shoulder, knee, hip and elbow surgery, as well as complex shoulder replacement and knee replacement surgery.
After graduating from Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Harris pursued his orthopaedic surgical training at Boston University Orthopedic Surgical Residency Program. He then completed subspecialty training in shoulder and sports medicine surgery at the Santa Monica Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Group. It was here that he provided care for elite athletes from Major League Soccer, U.S. Men’s and Women’s Soccer, professional cyclists during the Tour of California, Division I College Football, and the NFL.
Dr. Harris is a master instructor for shoulder and hip arthroscopy at AAOS/AANA educational laboratory. His practice includes arthroscopic surgery for shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder replacement. He also focuses on knee ligament reconstruction (ACL/PCL), patellofemoral instability and realignment, and cartilage restoration. Dr. Harris also performs elbow and hip arthroscopy, proximal hamstring tendon repairs, and fracture repair.
For Dr. Harris, patients come first. He has a patient care philosophy which focuses on communication and accessibility. He understands that in the patient-doctor relationship, trust and understanding are imperative, and that clinical problem solving begins with careful listening, observation, and examination. Ultimately, the concept is to return patients and athletes to the highest levels of activity, comfort and function through specialized treatments or surgery.
In college, Dr. Harris competed in Notre Dame’s Bengal Bouts Boxing. He also participated in Bookstore Basketball, the largest annual outdoor basketball tournament in the world. Dr. Harris’ athletic interests guided him towards orthopaedic surgery, and believes his field incredibly rewarding. Currently, he is a passionate rock climber and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two sons.
