Omar M. Perez, MD
Dr. Omar M. Perez, MD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and specializes in arthroscopic surgery, open surgical techniques to treat sports-related injuries, total joint replacement, and a special focus on complex shoulder procedures and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Perez earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puerto Rico, with a major in Biology. After obtaining his medical degree from the Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, Dr. Perez continued his education for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency. He followed this by attending the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, where he was trained in advanced joint arthroscopy, shoulder arthroplasty, cartilage restoration techniques and orthobiologics.
Throughout his orthopaedic training, Dr. Perez has successfully treated world-class athletes from the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball, as well as youth and adult recreational athletes. He has been appointed Team Head Physician for the Southshore Gary Railcats, a semi-pro baseball team, as well as Merrillville High School and Calumet High School athletic programs. Dr. Perez is also the Director of the Methodist Hospitals Sports Medicine program.
Dr. Perez has served the Northwest Indiana community since 2016 providing high quality standards of patient care and excellent surgical outcomes. His passion is preserving and restoring motion because movement is often the best medicine for creating positive change in a person’s physical and emotional state.
